Last shoot of the year in the books
They came to the woods in search of ghosts and goblins. They found several haunts along the trails and all shooters came up with lots of balloons in their sights.
The weather was a little cool at the night, but the days were sunny and the temps just right for a fall shoot. Saturday the arena was soft, but by Sunday the times were improving as the dirt dried out.
Big Thank you to the Middletown Sportsman's Club for their hospitality. The club house was great for our pitch in dinner on Saturday night after an afternoon of shooting. We had 3 new shooters attend and they had a great time.
Friday night we got everyone settled in, and had a large campfire, thanks to Wild Donkey and Sweet N Sassy for the wood. They thought they had brought enough for the entire weekend, but we used up most of it on Friday night! LOL
On Saturday night another fire with Lenora Sutton's, wonderful spiced apple cider. That is something we will have to add to the shoot for next year. It was great on a cool night.
Our shoot had an international flavor to it this year. Our Canadian friends, Serenity and Legendary Lawman made the trip down from Hamilton, Ontario to join us. They brought a few props with them from their CAS club up north. Legendary Lawman did the job of armorer for us all weekend, big thanks to him for that job.
I have a link to a video of what it looks like to shoot the trails at Middletown, Houlihan Dan in the saddle so go along with for the ride.

Indiana State SASS shoot 2011 complete
Given that mother nature does not play fair, we concluded the Indiana State Shoot in one day with 11 riders, and 4 new SASS mounted members. Not a bad start to the 2011 year. It would have been nice to spread it out over a couple days, but we don't like playing in the mud.
A huge Thank You to Ben and Marsha Butler for letting us use their arena. Marsha, bless her heart ended up with a sever injury one day before the shoot was schedule to start. She was dismounting from her horse the night before and broke her right femer when the saddle slid. We wish her a quick recover and hope that Ben isn't to lost without her for a few a weeks.
Rifle and Over champion for the match went to Okaw SASS# 30137 (Neal Deterding) from Modoc, Il. Overall Ladies Champion and State Match winner went to Rawhidenlace SASS #86043 ( Dottie Linville), Men State Champion went to Wild Donkey SASS# 87183 (Kurt Abrams). Both Rawhidenlace and Wild Donkey earned free entry to the Midwest Regional at Guns of August - August 12-14, 2011.
In our L1/SL1 divisions Mustang Lady SASS# 87688 (Brenda Polston) won and it gives her, her first win of 2 needed to move to a L2. Congradualtions to Mustang Lady!
Congradulations to our winners and we looked forward to seeing everyone again in July at Western Riders Arena July 22-24.

Shoot for this weekend
Given the extreme weather from this evening with all the thunder storms raging throught he state. Western Riders, treasure Bill Taylor called me this evening to let me know that the arean and grounds recieved alot of water this afternoon and evening.
Wild Donkey and I will check it out in the morning and then make the call on whether to hold the shoot. Since the arena is close to the river the ground maybe to wet to get trailers into.
I will post more here in the morning after we get back from checking the facilities.

The trip was intense; we had some mechanical issues going down, but arrived at Foxtrotter Arena on Thursday evening.
The fun began on Friday night with a practice stage and then "The Fast Five" a rundown of sorts that you could shoot anyway you wanted as long as the balloons were broken before you crossed the finished line. Five shots, fastest time. Rawhidenlace won the Limited ladies, and Wild Donkey won the Men’s limited.
Saturday dawned clear, sunny, and promised to be a warm day for us northerners. Ran the first three stages of the 6-stage match plus two stages of rifle. Rawhidenlace came in third for the ladies. Wild Donkey placed 9th in the men’s division.
Saturday night was fun as we had pitch in dinner and lots of socializing. As you know, we are a social bunch. The Florida Outlaws really put on a great spread and many friendships were established.
Sunday turned out to be another gorgeous day with the last 3stages of the match plus the Extreme stage.
When all was said and done, and not a balloon left standing or floating, the match ended thus:
Wild Donkey - Reserve M1
Sweet n Sassy - 4th L2
Rawhidenlace – Champion SL2
Abe – 3rd M4
Lady Lacota – Trophy winner
